Cheese and Onion Pork
Updated: Apr 28, 2021
Transform your boring pork steaks into a decadently delicious dinner.

I have never been a fan of pork steak or pork chops for that matter, until I tried this tangy, cheesy super quick comforting pork recipe. The first time I made it, it was very sinful, full of calories and not exactly post-surgery life friendly. But as the weather cools down, and winter is definitely coming in quick, I decided to make a lighter version of my beloved pork steaks.
Cheese and Onion Pork Serves: 4 Nutritional Information Calories: 297 Carbs: 3.5g Fat: 15.8g Protein: 8.7g Ingredients 4 lean pork sirloin steaks
salt and cracked black pepper
100g brown onion, peeled and finely sliced
100g light tasty cheese
1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
2 tsp beer dijon mustard (regular dijon will work too)
1 egg yolk
1tsp fresh thyme Instructions
Preheat oven on grill to 200° C.
Season the pork steaks with a little salt and pepper, place on a baking sheet.
Place in oven for around 5-8 minutes until cooked through, turning occasionally.
In a small pan on a medium-high heat, add the onion and saute for 5 minutes until the onion is soft.
Place the onion in a mixing bowl.
Add 3/4 of the cheese, Worcestershire sauce, mustard and egg yolk to the onions. Mix well.
Remove the pork from the oven and reduce the temperature of the oven to 180° C.
Spoon the cheese and onion mixture evenly on top of the pork steaks.
Sprinkle with the remaining cheese and the thyme on top of the pork and place it back into the oven for 5 minutes until the cheese has melted and is golden brown.
